Position Summary:

The Finance Manager is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Finance Director. Accurately maintains financial records and monitors internal controls to promote and protect sound financial management practices. The Finance Manager is responsible for updating and maintaining accounting records including recording income, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, preparing payroll, produces monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements, works with leadership team to prepare annual budget, and supports the annual audit. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for ensuring the accounting calendar is maintained and all deadlines are met.
  • Maintain organization’s general ledger to ensure all expenditures are accurately accounted for and financial statements contain accurate information
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processing
  • Manage timesheet submissions, allocation, and coding
  • Review supporting documentation and proper approval of all payments
  • Provide financial oversight of projects and allocation of funds
  • Ensure compliance with organization policies, government regulations, GAAP, and other regulatory bodies
  • Interpret provisions in grant/contract documents relating to payment terms, billing, and limitations on cost recovery.
  • Assist others with understanding of government regulations and compliance
  • Further development and implementation of cost-recovery methodology. 
  • Manage vendor contracts, review invoices for contract compliance
  • Perform monthly closing activities including bank reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries for all types of accounting transactions (including fringe, indirect, revenue recognition, etc.) and supporting schedules
  • Prepare financial reporting for grants (Federal, State, and Local)
  • Monitor and review corporate credit card activity, coding and supporting documentation
  • Assist Finance Director with annual audit, including copying, filing, and other support.
  • Assist Finance Director with annual budget, including data entry into QuickBooks
  • Oversee accounting related work performed by any finance associate or outside support service

 

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
  • 5 years of experience in accounting, public or non-profit a plus
  • Experience working in a complex organization with multiple programs and funding source
  • Experience tracking, planning, and monitoring of grant and program administration.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial management and accounting with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, government cost recovery and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrates system thinking and team values and willingness to help other team members
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software a plus
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments appropriately and manage pressure of conflicting demands
