Job Summary:

Communications Lead helps raise awareness and support for TPF’s work by assisting in organizing events, drafting articles and blogs, putting together publications, overseeing the website, and engaging in public outreach.

Communications Lead works to ensure that TPF has an energetic communications presence. Communications Lead helps implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy. This strategy includes driving traffic to TPF’s website, crafting public relations messages (via press releases, blogs and speeches), putting together events, collaborating on the annual report, and having a dynamic presence on social media (via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn).  

Responsibilities:

Communications:

·      Prepare and implement internal and external communication strategy

·     Create content that aligns with TPF’s brand identity and language for TPF’s website, blog, annual reports, press releases and email blasts.

·     Manage daily all social media accounts of TPF (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn)

·     Monitor social media influences, trends, tools and emerging platforms to increase TPF’s reach

·     Support overall organizational communication and branding strategy by ensuring consistent messaging;

·     Update website and implement new ideas to increase overall traffic

·     Help design and lead issue campaigns, including identifying ways for TPF and grantee partners to shift key audiences’ framing and understanding of the issue(s); and

·     Develop or assist with all aspects of event planning that strategically advance TPF’s issues and target new donors;

Writing

·     Manage the development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic content, including the production of an annual report, and a monthly digital newsletter;

·     Curate TPF’s blog post by writing posts and editing guest contributions;

·     Draft content for email marketing, including campaigns and invitations;

PR and Advertising

·     Cultivate press contacts, draft and distribute/place public communications such as press releases, op-eds, letters, short statements, and remarks;

·     Manage incoming media requests, respond to requests for information and arrange interviews and other media opportunities;

·     Track news about philanthropy, NGOs and foundations;

·     Coordinate and manage ad campaigns;


Required Qualifications and Experience:

·     Minimum three years of experience in communications, journalism or marketing/advertising.

·     Exceptional writing and editing skills are a must. You have to love writing and you have a fun, creative, and easy to understand style.

·     Extensive knowledge of best practices for the web is critical, including digital and social media tools, trends, monitoring and analysis particularly Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Wordpress, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

·     Experience managing email/distribution lists and using email programs, particularly Mailchimp and Salesforce.

·     A creative, entrepreneurial personality, with the ability to juggle multiple projects.

·     A proactive, independent, upbeat working style.

·     Experience working collaboratively with volunteers and professional staff.

·     Minimum Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a relevant major.
