TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization that mobilizes individuals, families, communities, philanthropists, and public agencies to work together to create green, resilient communities by providing education on the benefits of planting trees, capturing the rainwater, greening schools, and providing fun environmental educational activities. TreePeople unites with communities to grow a greener, shadier and more water-secure region at homes, neighborhoods, schools and in the local mountains. 


We are seeking an Education and Community Program Associate who will work on the education and community engagement initiatives to implement the mission, vision, goals, programmatic priorities, and strategy of TreePeople. The Program Associate will work closely with the Director of Education and Community to manage current contracts; steward and manage grants; coordinate and project manage new initiatives; and conduct assessments of current programming.

At least 50% of their time will be spent on admin and coordination of TreePeople’s Generation Earth program. Each year, the LA Public Works funded Generation Earth program engages thousands of teachers and youth to conduct environmental service-learning projects, connecting youth through hands-on, science-based activities to their local urban forest and environment.

Job Duties:

·       Works closely with the Director of Education and Community to oversee the coordination and implementation of current programs tied to TreePeople’s Education and Community initiatives.

·       Ensures that proper reporting, metrics tracking and data collection is occurring on a consistent and regular basis for the education and community initiatives.

·       Prepares high-quality presentations for various audiences.

·       Facilitates cross-departmental collaboration.

·       Produces high caliber reports, memorandums and written correspondence on regular basis.

·    Helps to produce monthly invoices and responsible for maintaining all back-up material for contracts.

·       Edits all official written work produced by staff, including debriefing reports and other memoranda.

·       Maintains various databases for Education and Organizing initiatives.

·       Categorize, log and track all internal meeting minutes, purchases, correspondences and task lists.

·       Aid in scheduling for the Director of Education and Community.

·       Leads special projects as needed.

·      Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

o  Bachelor’s Degree in related field (i.e. Social Work, Public Health, Environmental Science, etc.) or commensurate experience.

o  Proven track record of writing, implementing, and managing grants for programming.

o  Highly analytical and forward thinking with an acute attention to detail.

o  Proven ability to lead a team towards success, reach required goals and obligations on a consistent basis.

o Superior record with meeting deadlines and handling multiple tasks and projects.

o  Outstanding communicator with an aptitude for public speaking, training others, and partnership development.

o Demonstrated ability to interface with high-level departmental and community leaders and represent the organization and programs.

o  Ability to maintain confidential, accurate and complete records including documentation of daily activities; monthly and quarterly reports, etc.

o  Attention to detail in writing and proofing materials, tracking and managing projects and grants.

o  Knowledge of and experience with environmental equity and education policy issues.

o  Proficient with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Docs.

o  Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance.


Preferred:

o  Experience in Project Management, Executive Assistantship, etc.

o  Experience with Salesforce and other CRM databases.


Physical Requirements:

o  While performing the duties of this job, this position requires standing, walking, driving and the ability to lift 15 pounds
