ARCS Northern California Chapter (NCC) is seeking a part-time Manager of Development to join the professional support team and play a key role in the Chapter’s continued success by providing expertise in fundraising and driving implementation in development strategy.

The ideal candidate will

·      Be motivated by the ARCS mission, the ARCS NCC scholars and ARCS NCC members;

·      Provide input to & execution of annual development strategy to achieve financial goals;

·      Support logistics of Chapter events by partnering with volunteer members and staff;

·      Be professional and discreet in all interactions.

Reporting and Other Specifics:

·      The position reports to the BOD President, interacts with VPs of Councils and NCC members, and works closely with two other part-time professional staff.

·      The position is part-time (average of 20 hours/week); work hours and work location are flexible; some evening/weekend work and reliable access to a car are required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising and Stewardship

  • In partnership with the Development Council, oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of the annual development plan 
  • Steward relationships and provide continuity with individual donors, corporations, foundations and community leaders
  • Show initiative in developing new funding targets – beyond those already vetted
  • Develop/use templates to submit generic foundation and corporate asks
  • Engage the Board and members in major donor solicitation and fundraising activities 
  • Submit monthly development reports to the Board 
  • Manage Salesforce database, keeping information current – tracking all member, non-member, corporate and foundation donations as well as status of “prospects”

Events:

  • Along with the Co-VPs of Major Events, support planning and execution of annual fund/friend raising events – including underwriting, budgets, contracts, vendors, collateral, PR

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The candidate will have many of the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management or related field
  • 4+ years nonprofit development, event planning, and/or communications experience.
  • Successful track record with major donor engagement and stewardship, developing and executing volunteer-led campaigns
  • Excellent computer skills.  Proficient with MS Office applications and CRMs
  • Proficient with social media platforms
  • Understanding of Salesforce database management
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and in partnership with ARCS members and current staff
  • Work occasional nights and weekends as needed to support Board and events 
  • Provide own car, insurance, and valid driver’s license or other means to travel throughout the Bay Area
  • Pass a comprehensive background check
