Description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President, Community Program Development, the Senior Grant Writer contributes to program planning and resource development for Jewish and Israel education and engagement programs, with the overall goal of generating and sustaining revenue for the Federation and affiliated agencies. 


PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes lead responsibility for the submission of grant proposals, reports and budgets for select teen and family education and engagement programs. This includes working with other Federation departments and affiliated agencies in the areas of program planning, drafting narratives, preparing budgets, and tracking results and outcomes.
  • Contributes to grant development and fundraising efforts for other Federation and agency programs as necessary.
  • Researches and identifies funding opportunities, including the cultivation of relationships with foundation representatives.
  • Directly supports JUF campaign integration on an ongoing basis in addition to mandatory campaign-related activities.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.A. from an accredited institution required; Master’s Degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a non-profit setting with increasing responsibilities, with emphasis on grant development, grant writing, and program planning (including budgeting and assessment/evaluation).
  • Demonstrated experience working with private foundations.
  • Knowledge and diverse experience with Jewish communal service, including familiarity with Jewish day school system, community outreach programs and activities, Israel and the diaspora, as well as other kinds of organized Jewish life (campus life, JCCs camp, synagogues, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent writing, research, and budget preparation skills.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to implement new ideas.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to take leadership, convene working groups, and work with senior staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks, work under deadline, and work independently as well as collaboratively with lay leaders and professionals.
  • Exceptional ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong presentation/public speaking skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of products.
