Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) Northwest is seeking applicants for the Community Resource and Direct Service Specialist position at the Poverello Center, which provides food, shelter, clothing, and other services to the hungry and homeless in Missoula, Montana. Overall, the Specialist position is responsible for helping people access the resources they need move towards self-sufficiency. The role focuses on providing for the daily and vital needs of shelter patrons, including health and hygiene essentials, safe storage for belongings, obtaining government IDs, accessing the food pantry, and the daily meals program. The Specialist also serves as a first welcome to the Poverello Center and provides referrals to social service resources addressing any number of barriers to housing, employment, and wellness for those seeking support.

This full-time volunteer position is part of JVC Northwest, which recruits, places, and supports Jesuit Volunteer (JV) AmeriCorps members in a year of full-time service focusing on the values of community, spirituality, simple living, and social and ecological justice. JVs live with 3-7 other volunteers in urban centers and rural communities in the Northwest, are placed in a variety of schools, social services, community health centers, legal clinics, and environmental and public agencies, and serve communities living on the margins of society.

The program year runs August 6, 2018 - July 31, 2019. Applications accepted through July 23.
