Food Service Director- Residential Summer Camp

MISSION STATEMENT

The Fiver Children's Foundation is a comprehensive youth development organization that empowers children from underserved communities to develop life skills and to reach their full potential. Fiver's 10 year commitment to each child includes year-round mentoring and counseling programs, a character building residential summer program, and partnerships with schools and community based organizations.

 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Camp Director, and in accordance with the policies and mission of the Fiver Children’s Foundation, the Food Services Director is responsible for maintaining the camp’s kitchen facilities, creating a daily menu in accordance with USDA guidelines, supervising kitchen staff and cooking of camper and staff meals (approximately 180 people, 3 meals per day & 1 snack).

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Director must be at least 25 years of age and possess proven ability to accept responsibility and work independently of others. Documented experience or training in food service management is a must, including sanitation, food preparation and protection, hygiene, personnel supervision and record keeping. The Food Services Director must exhibit a positive attitude and passion for serving children as well as carrying out the mission of the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Directly supervise, schedule, and give guidance to and evaluate camp’s kitchen staff
  2. Create menu that abides by standards set forth by USDA and Department of Health.
  3. Create a written system for the regular and consistent cleaning of all kitchen facilities and equipment (including dishes). Follow through personally with this system.
  4. Create a written system for regular safety checks of all kitchen equipment. Identify and eliminate risks.
  5. Purchase food and equipment as necessary (all purchases must be approved by Camp Director).
  6. Work with camp Health Director to meet special dietary needs of campers and staff.
  7. Familiarize yourself with Federal, State, and OSHA related laws and regulations and work according to those laws and regulations.
  8. Employee is held responsible for the duties of their job as well as adhering to the Policies and Procedures of Camp Fiver as outlined in Camp Fiver Employee Handbook.

 

LOCATION

Located in beautiful upstate New York, Camp Fiver is a four hour trip from New York City and is 45 minutes southeast of Syracuse. Truly a “home away from home,” Camp Fiver ‘s 129-acre refuge includes a lake, a river, woodlands, a learning center, dining hall, horse barn and more. Room and board provided if candidate does not live locally. Camp Fiver address: 7464 Mill Street, Poolville, NY 13332 Phone: 315-691-6770
