Mission
The Sinai Assisted Housing Foundation – “Sinai House” – is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enable families to move from homelessness to independence by providing safe, affordable housing, comprehensive social services, and financial support. Sinai House offers two-bedroom, two-bathroom, fully furnished apartments to families who are homeless. Our facilities accommodate four families at a time. Residents can live at Sinai House for two years while working to achieve stability and independence.
We assist families in achieving their goals by offering our adult residents structured case management, financial literacy, educational and career counseling, individual and group therapy, and peer-to-peer support. Equally important, we provide our resident children with academic support, mentoring, and, when indicated, psychological counseling.
Position Description
In partnership with the Executive Director, the Clinical Therapist is responsible for providing counseling services to four adult residents. As a critical component of the case management team, the Clinical Therapist will participate in case planning, assessments, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention and other matters that are critical to the success of our residents.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide therapy and counseling services based on the belief that behavior is influenced by numerous factors such as environment, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion and culture, and as such, each person's psychological health and potential well-being are unique.
Conduct counseling sessions in group or individual settings to clients coping with problems related to family issues, abusive histories, drug and alcohol abuse, and other issues, utilizing a broad array of intervention techniques required to effectively address client problems.
Ensure that counseling services are Trauma Informed and match the individual needs of each client.
Coordinate special guest speakers for quarterly community meetings.
Record information and document incidents as they occur to help keep track of concerning behaviors.
Acts as a resource to clients when they need guidance or advice about specific life situations or social issues.
Assist all team members in providing a therapeutic environment for clients.
Consistently input case notes and detail in Apricot.
Requirements
A minimum of a Master's degree in Mental Health, Counseling, Social Work Psychology, or a related field, with a minimum of two years' experience
Must have five to seven years’ experience working with families who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of housing instability.
Must be available to meet with clients on site.
Compensation
This is a contractual position requiring 10 – 15 hrs./month of clinical support with compensation of 200.00/hr.
