P/T Grant Writer – 21 hrs/week – (on-site position)



Scope and Purpose of Job:


To assist in the fundraising strategy for foundations, corporations, government agencies and individuals to ensure a stable income for the museum’s operations and growth.




Responsibilities and Duties:


Meet regularly with Director of Development and Director of Education to determine 

funding needs, opportunities and priorities. Research and update statistics and information relating to grants.


Write/edit proposals and letters of inquiry to foundations, corporations, government 

agencies and individuals.


Update language on dated materials and write copy for fundraising and promotional materials.


Research funding prospects. Provide Director of Development

 with background materials to support fundraising efforts.


Maintain grant calendar and manage schedule of proposal submissions, interim and final 

reports, as well as update State and Federal filing information.  

Maintain files of fundraising materials including current budgets, IRS letters, audited financial statements, major contributor lists and information packets.


Excellent writing skills required, ability to think creatively and to synthesize information effectively.  Ability to tailor information to appeal to a broad spectrum of funder interests.
