The K-12 Program Coordinator organizes and coordinates the K-12 and community engagement programs. The ideal individual will have strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The K-12 Program Coordinator will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to communicate to a wide variety of audiences. Manages day-to-day operations:

·     Organizing and maintaining files and records

·     Coordinating logistics of calls, meetings, workshops and projects

·     Working closely with project leads

·     Attending meetings and taking notes

·     Contributing to activities and working groups

·     Preparing and editing correspondence, reports and presentations


Markets and promotes the activities of Beyond Benign by:

·     Maintaining and updating website on weekly basis

·     Preparing quarterly newsletters

·     Managing social media


Coordinates Lead Teacher Program by:

·     Coordinating logistics and travel for workshops and events

·     Managing Lead Teacher project timelines

·     Supporting curriculum projects

·     Assisting in teacher trainings


Manage Community Engagement by:

·     Organizing and preparing for outreach events 

·     Managing relationships with community partners

·     Coordinating college student Outreach Fellows

·     Leading on-site field trips

Required and Desired Characteristics:

Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail

Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and communicate with a diverse audience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience in group facilitation and oral presentations

Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability

Highly resourceful team player with the ability to also be extremely effective independently

Outstanding project management skills with an ability to develop ambitious goals and achieve them on time

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the organization

Some travel required

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (science degree preferred)

1-3 years of related experience and interest in community outreach, STEM/STEAM education and sustainability

Basic lab skills (preferred not required)

Administrative skills including but not limited to: proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms
