Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is one of the largest human services providers in California that operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crisis situations by offering clients the tools and resources needed to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.

Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, operates three Residential programs that provide shelter, food, clothing, referrals and on-site supportive services to unaccompanied women and families experiencing homelessness. Languille Shelter and Hawkes Residence operate as Interim Housing sites for unaccompanied women experiencing homelessness. The Residence sites provide unaccompanied women experiencing homelessness with temporary housing intended to resolve their immediate experience of unsheltered homelessness, to connect participants to permanent housing opportunities and to provide various others resources needed to break their cycle of homelessness. In addition, Languille Shelter provides drop-in services to unaccompanied women living on the streets during the daytime hours. Farley House provides Transitional Housing to up to 21 families experiencing homelessness. The families are composed of a parent/guardian with up to two minor children.

Good Shepherd Center also operates two community based programs, that is, Housing for Health and Rapid Rehousing. Housing for Health is a county-funded program aimed at reducing homelessness and improving long-term health outcomes among vulnerable populations within Los Angeles. The Rapid Rehousing Program assists unaccompanied women with short term financial assistance and supportive services.

 Good Shepherd Center is seeking a dependable, compassionate and empathetic Program Manager for our Housing for Health Program  to join the team and support the mission of helping and providing support to the women and children of the program.

Primary responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all contract compliance and outcomes of the program.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the program to include program management and coordination of work order assigned to Good Shepherd Center.
  • Work directly with Participants enrolled in the HFH program.
  • Create, change and modify program services to meet client needs enrolled in the HFH program.
  • Collaborate and partner with partner agencies to establish outreach, resources and to develop life skills workshops for clients.
  • Conduct quality assurance review for program files, case management and contracts.
  • Organize and lead team meetings.
  • Coordinate agreements and services with other partner agencies.
  • Prepare monthly statistical reports to Program Directors and funders using the HMIS/CHAMP system, as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention to clients as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with management team and HFH Clinical Supervisor to ensure that services flow seamlessly with the program’s continuum of care.
  • Supervise staff and interns.
  • On-call, as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess organizational intelligence and be able to implement the systems necessary to achieve the goals of the program.

  • Master’s degree required
  • 2  years of related experience to include supervision of staff
  • Demonstrate leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and public speaking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Familiarity with best practices in homeless services: Trauma Informed Care, Housing First and Harm Reduction
  • Experience with the HMIS/Clarity System to include input and reports
  • Experience working with women and children experiencing homelessness
  • Provide case management and / or mental health services in permanent supportive housing to include establishing a crisis response system
  • Possess strong verbal and written skills
