Description:

J/P HRO is a non-profit organization involved in Haiti relief and redevelopment. The US Office located in Los Angeles handles fund development, financial reporting and other administrative matters of the organization to support its operations in Haiti. The US teams consists of 6 employees, five working at the Los Angeles Office and one telecommuting from the East Coast.


The Communications and Events Manager is responsible for providing support to fundraising campaigns with the opportunity to take lead on smaller campaigns in close coordination with the VP of Development and the CEO. He/she will also be responsible for working in coordination with the Development and Program teams to develop marketing material throughout the year, from success stories, capital campaign materials, and program materials.


This position will also be responsible for creating opportunities for the organization’s reps to create more visibility in public events and to position the organization and key staff as thought leaders. As one of the most important sources of income, existing events and creating new fundraising events will be a core responsibility. This position will be responsible for working with existing consultants to maintain the level of funding received from existing events and create additional opportunities for new funding. He/she will also manage the full communications team in the US and Haiti offices.


Responsibilities and Duties:

Overall

●     Brainstorming and implementation of communications and events strategy in concert with the CEO and VP of Development

●     Responsible for the tracking of deadlines for key communication and event activities

●     Support high level annual fundraising campaigns

●     Participate in brainstorming of new fundraising ideas, approaches and strategies


Communications

●     Oversee and manage social media presence for US and Haiti

●     Oversee and manage the website and all publications from Annual Reports to the Quarterly Newsletter

●     Create new publications to support programs and development (capital campaign materials, program materials)

●     Responsible for generating content and messaging for communications and events department

●     Copy editing and support copy writing for communications department

●     Lead smaller capital and comms campaigns throughout the year in close coordination with VP of Development and CEO. Lead specific projects from conception to completion. This involves close communication and coordination with key donors, supporters, and partners.

●     Edit film content, assist in the development of assets for all departments


Events

●     Manage annual gala from soup to nuts, managing and coordinating between EPs, vendors, production company, venue, to the administrative management of payment and fulfillment of auction items

●     Manage assets from video, messaging and production of invites for all events in concert with consultants, sponsors, and artists

●     Develop new opportunities for smaller fundraising events throughout the year focused on small dollar donations and influencers



Qualifications:

●     Bachelor degree and related job experience

●     1-3 years of experience in a partnerships/communications position
