Compensation/Benefits:      $17 - $19/hour depending on experience; pro-rated vacation, sick and holiday leave; and matching retirement plan

Position Overview

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for assisting the HR Manager with administrative support of day-to-day human resource operations for 90 office, construction and retail (ReStore) employees.


Essential Functions

·        Conducts new employee onboarding/orientations and off-boarding

·        Performs HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance

·        Prepares and monitors job postings

·        Responds to requests for verifications of employment status

·        Maintains confidential personnel files and personnel actions

·        Facilitates/monitors background checks

·        Assists with unemployment claim paperwork

·        Assists with the creation and distribution of benefit information materials, surveys, open enrollment materials and other HR materials

·        Assists with timecard/payroll issues

·        Assists with Affirmative Action Tracking/Compliance

·        Assists the manager with HR projects

·        Helps to track employee service and create employee recognition program

·        Updates internal organization charts

·        Helps plan employee events

·        Serves on Health, Safety and Environment Committee; helps with annual OSHA reporting

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.


Travel

Local travel to various Habitat office/retail locations is required periodically.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position. Days and hours of work between Monday and Friday to be determined. 


Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

·        High school diploma or equivalent required, plus minimum two years of HR administrative support experience

·        Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail

·        Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team

·        Computer skills to include MS Office, Google Docs, HRIS programs

·        Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
