Knox County Homeless Coalition is seeking a responsible, enthusiastic, and positive role model to serve as Transitional Living Staff for our apartments at The Landing Place in Rockland. In close collaboration with the Shelter Coordinator, this position will play a key role in supporting high-risk youth living in our efficiency apartments as they transition towards independent living.

All staff at The Landing Place embrace a strength-based, trauma-informed approach to youth development, and act as community advocates on behalf of high-risk youth and families. We seek caring, honest, creative, and supportive staff members who are collaborative-minded, solution-oriented, self-directed, non-judgemental, and capable of maintaining perspective, as well as a sense of humor. Our staff are passionate about working with youth and have a proven ability to support others in caring, courageous, and inspiring ways.

A successful candidate would show attention to detail, approachability, clear communication, professional judgment and boundaries, self-motivation, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrate critical thinking, and appropriately respond to challenging situations.  Staff will focus on monitoring and maintaining site safety and cleanliness, daily living skills development, implementing individual program goals with residents, organizational communication, program compliance, and additional facilitation of program needs in collaboration with the Shelter Coordinator.

Staff should have at least 2 years of experience working with youth in a professional setting, and a bachelor's degree; preferably in human services, education, or related field.  Staff must be able to access our 2nd story facilities via stairs, and be comfortable driving a 12 passenger van. Staff must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (applicants must be 21+ years of age and have 1 year of safe driving experience to operate KCHC passenger vans).

The position is full-time, Monday thru Friday. Staff will also have on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.

This position will pay $17-$19 / hour, based on experience, with additional compensation for on-call time. KCHC offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes a choice of health coverage (including an employer-sponsored health savings account for Bronze level coverage), optional dental and vision insurance, paid time-off benefits, 13 paid holidays (including your birthday off, because you deserve it!), and additional time off in the summer.

Background and license checks are required for final candidates.

To apply, please send your resume and a cover letter sharing why you would be a good fit for our team to people@homehelphope.org and note “Transitional Living Staff Applicant” in the subject line.
