WRP Pathway Navigator

 

Summary of Position

Program:           Work Resource Program (WRP)

Mission:              To partner with San Francisco Unified School District, Special Education Services to provide career and work readiness activities that support students’ current and future educational and employment success.

 

Principal Relationships:

·        Reports to:  Director of High School and Bridge Programs

·        Collaborates with: JVS HSB staff, SFUSD school site staff, educational and employer partners

·        Supervises:  N/A

 

Scope:

·        Outreach to and enroll students into JVS’s Work Resources Program

·        Lead career industry, employment and college readiness classes at SFUSD school sites

·        Support high school students to apply to internships and Work-based Learning (WBL) opportunities

·        Collaborate with SFUSD school-site staff and JVS’s Pathway Navigators across multiple school sites to promote job application labs and other JVS programs

·        Lead summer pre-employment trainings and support summer success and retention activities

·        Lead career pathways exploration with students using Virtual Job Shadow to identify career values and interests in context of specific career options

·        Support students completing JVS’s career portfolio for youth

Preferred Competencies

·        Familiarity coaching and supporting students while using youth development practices

·        Familiar with Google drive, Dropbox and Salesforce

·        Familiar with SF Unified School District and internship programing 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

·        Experience working with youth and maintaining appropriate boundaries

·        Experience chaperoning youth on outings, encouraging engagement and ensuring safety of youth

·        Experience facilitating engaging youth workshops

·        Experience assessing activities/outings and providing feedback

 

Preferred Qualifications  

·        Experience coordinating career activities with youth between of ages of 14 to 24

·        Experience organizing events and large scale activities with multiple partners

·        Experience leading career and employment trainings

·        Experience working with students with disabilities  

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

Client Support

·        Through one-on-one and group coaching/training, support participants in:

o  Inspire realistic career goals, and coaching towards success

o  Actively engaging with SFUSD site staff to promote JVS programs

o  Connect what students learn in the classroom to careers and bring much needed relevance to everyday learning

o  Connecting internship experiences back to school day activities and themes

·        Identify participant supply needs and work with manager to secure resources

 

Program Support

·        As appropriate, participate in planning for, and coordinate school year career activities

·        Identify and provide feedback on ways to increase student support, internship support and overall program outcomes

·        Support development of collaborative vision while maintaining alignment to agency, department and program goals

·        Develop and maintain career curriculum and related training materials

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION 

·        This position will be working in a typical office and/or school setting, with no extremes in temperature or lighting

·        Able to travel and present at offsite locations in the Bay Area

·        Able to transport/carry program materials to school sites

·        Applicants should be able to work with equipment typically found in an office and should be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation.
