Description

The Mongan Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) (https://www.monganinstitute.org/) seeks to hire a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC I) to assist in a recently funded large research project to determine and implement best practices in the prevention of COVID-19 for adults with serious mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities and the staff providing care in congregate living settings funded by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). A team of researchers spanning several centers at the Mongan Institute will partner with behavioral health organizations, patients, families, state agencies, and advocacy groups, in a two-year study to determine the most effective approaches to reducing COVID-19 risk and improving outcomes for these highly vulnerable populations, and for the staff who provide care.  In addition to conducting surveys and conducting large data set analysis and simulation modeling of best practices, this project will engage stakeholders from a variety of organizations to select optimal best practices followed by a study of effectiveness and implementation involving 400 group homes with 2000 residents and 3000 staff in Massachusetts.  In addition to determining the effectiveness of tailoring approaches to the specific needs of people with serious mental illness and developmental and intellectual disabilities, the study team will also work to develop approaches that address COVID-19 health disparities that may be associated with race, ethnicity, and degree of disability. Findings from this study will be broadly disseminated.
