Description

The Communications and Special Events Manager is responsible for managing the marketing and communications efforts of the Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC) with a particular focus on traditional and social media and special events. The Communications and Special Events Manager will create marketing materials, manage PBC’s website and social media presence, oversee public relations efforts, write grants, and support development-related communications and events. 


The Communications and Special Events Manager will play a critical role in determining the communications strategy for PBC and will help to shape the organizational brand to increase fundraising and occupancy capacity.


MAJOR DUTIES


·      Take the lead in developing and implementing a communications strategy including creating a comprehensive communications calendar which identifies all opportunities for promotion of PBC in traditional and social media. Create content and manage the timing and distribution of messaging.


·      Direct, create content, and publish e-newsletters, e-mails, and other digital communications. Responsible for all social media channels. Ensure all messaging aligns with PBC’s mission and vision.


·      Analyze SEO and data related to all digital content and tools. Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns. Provide quarterly media activity reports for the Board of Trustees.


·      Manage PBC’s video and photo inventory, including taking photos and videos at various events, and working with outside photographers as needed. Curate PBC’s photo library and select photographs for marketing purposes. 


·      Lead all graphic design projects, including working with design and print vendors to establish and maintain schedule and budget. 


·      Generate regular press releases, engage media to coordinate interviews and produce feature articles, and cultivate opportunities for public relations. Develop relationships with local and industry media sources.


·      Collaborate with Blairstown staff to identify new avenues for promoting PBC programming to potential new clients and for story ideas to pitch to local and industry media sources.


·      Oversee all aspects of one organization-wide special event each year, including managing volunteers, coordinating with venue, preparing budget, securing sponsors and participants, tracking and reporting registration and income progress, organizing day-of-event logistics, drafting necessary talking points, providing all follow up to donors and participants, and debriefing after the event with volunteers and staff.


·      Manage assigned special event project tasks, including maintaining accurate records of participation and preparing necessary reports. Create promotional materials for events such as invitations, programs, and donor recognition. Coordinate event publicity.


·      Manage the Young Professionals Committee.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES


·      Represent PBC at local community events as needed.

 

·      Participate in staff meetings, staff development opportunities, and planning sessions as requested. 


·      Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

 

·      Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or relevant field.

·      A minimum of three years prior experience in a nonprofit environment, preferably in fund development and/or communications.

·      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.

·      High level of initiative and reliability.

·      Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.

·      Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and software.

·      Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience using editing software (Photoshop, etc.) a plus.

·      A successful track record in setting priorities and a multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.

·      Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.

·      Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, professionalism, a commitment to lead by example, and dedication to the mission of Princeton-Blairstown Center.

·      Flexibility to work some nights and weekends as required.

Driver's license and access to reliable vehicle required.
