The IACP is the world’s largest and most influential professional association for police leaders. With more than 30,000 members in over 160 countries, the IACP is a recognized global leader in policing.  

IACP seeks to hire several Project Assistants to broadly support IACP efforts, and specifically support the following initiatives: 

  • Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), supporting traffic enforcement and community education efforts in Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and India (two positions available) 
  • Collaborative Reform Initiative-Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC), serving policing through a customized “by the field, for the field” approach, developing and delivering a national training and technical assistance program 
  • Anti-Human Trafficking, dedicated to serving law enforcement and their multidisciplinary partners to combat all forms of human trafficking 
  • Community Based Crime Reduction (CBCR) and Crime Reduction in Smaller and Rural Communities (CRSR), using data-driven, place-based crime prevention and community revitalization strategies to reduce crime and build community-police collaboration 
  • Law Enforcement-Based Direct Victim Services and Technical Assistance Program (LEV), providing comprehensive training and technical assistance to develop, enhance, and sustain direct victim assistance service programs 
  • Community Trust Initiative (CTI), developing curricula and training tools for police leaders to reduce crime and strengthen relationships with the communities they serve, focusing on officer performance, adaptive decision-making skills, civic involvement, and police-community relations. 

 Job Responsibilities  

Working with IACP staff, project partners, and stakeholders, the Project Assistant will assist with: 

  • Organizing on-site training events and meetings, virtual meetings, webinars, and conference calls  
  • Tracking project details including progress reports and training and technical assistance information  
  • Development of project-related materials such as educational handouts, worksheets, evaluation forms, publications, videos, guidebooks, reports, webinars, workshop presentations, and fliers  
  • Gathering information, policies, research, and resources and responding to project-related issues
  • Supporting project outreach, marketing, and information dissemination including social media and web site postings  Maintaining records in accordance with IACP and funding agency guidelines  
  • Supporting IACP team projects and efforts, as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other relevant business software 
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Solid analytical skills to include the ability to troubleshoot problems 
  • Effective task prioritization and time management skills 
  • Solid writing, editing, and communication skills 
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • One year of related experience 
  • Experience in a non-profit organization, association, or criminal justice environment 
  • Experience with planning and providing logistical arrangements for events 
  • For the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) initiative only, the ideal candidate will have international experience (study abroad, humanitarian missions, etc.) and proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Hindi is preferred 

 Special Conditions and Work Environment 

  • Travel may be required based on job responsibilities 
  • Some openings are grant-funded positions for which continuation funding will be sought 
  • Work takes place primarily in an office environment 
  • Light lifting, bending, and reaching may be required
