Overview

Mandated by the Connecticut Superior Court, the Parenting Education Program (PEP) helps divorcing parents foster positive parenting following a divorce. This program is a curriculum based, psycho-educational course to teach divorcing/separating parents about the impact of family restructuring on children. Through expert counseling, parents learn how they can help their children adjust to parent separation, provide cooperative parenting, conflict resolution and dispute management, visitation guidelines, and stress reducing techniques. 

The Role:

Family Centers is seeking a part-time hourly Master’s level Clinician (bi-lingual preferred), to facilitate the Parenting Education Program. This program is currently virtual, held over 3 days, for 6 hours in total per week. However, it may change to in-person, held over two evenings or one Saturday, for 6 hours in total per week. 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Nursing, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy or relevant degree.
  • Experience working with a wide range of populations
  • A willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge and experience with a virtual counseling platform
  • Bi-lingual Spanish is preferred

 

Successful completion of the following:

  • Training in course curriculum and completion of court paperwork
  • Mandatory observation of at least two PEP classes. 
  • Observation by an experienced facilitator at least once.
  • Mandatory attendance at:
  1. CCFSA sponsored PEP 101 training
  2. Annual CSSD Training and the annual CCFSA PEP Conference
