ABOUT THE POSITION: The job of a Float Building Specialist staff is to fill in for regularly scheduled employees who are sick or on vacation leave. The position serves three programs in the Building Specialist role. The Building Specialist maintains a security presence in the reception and lobby area. They observe, record, and respond as needed to the comings and goings of guests, staff and residents, maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents, and respond to tenant issues as appropriate. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). 


ABOUT THE PROGRAMS:  

Renton Veterans Center: With transitional and supported permanent housing for Veterans who are single, couples, and families, our Compass Veterans Center in Renton offers a variety of services for veterans under one roof. Reading groups and art classes for children in our youth center engage young residents, and case management services help adults find the support they need. The program is open to homeless veterans or homeless veterans with families, earning between zero to 60% Area Median Income.

Shoreline Veterans Center: Our Shoreline Veterans Program (SVC) provides transitional housing and case management for 21 men and 4 women who are veterans. The center’s technology lab offers computer classes and helps residents apply for benefits, look for a job and access resources online.

Nyer Urness House: Operating on a “housing first” model, Nyer Urness House provides 80 units of permanent housing to formerly homeless adults. Supportive services include case management, a medical clinic operated by Neighborcare Health on-site, daily meals and other community building resources. The community is named for the Rev. Nyer Urness, whose philosophy of ‘meeting people where they are’ is a fundamental principle of the work at Nyer Urness House.

LOCATIONS: Renton Veterans Center, Shoreline Veterans Center, and Nyer Urness House in Ballard

REPORTS TO: Property Managers

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

HOURS: Full time (Average of 40 guaranteed hours per week)

SCHEDULE: Schedule is set a minimum of two weeks ahead of time. Shifts are rotated between the three programs on a weekly basis.

SHIFT: Thursday through Monday combination of swing and graveyard shifts

SALARY: $14.28 per hour
