Description

The Development Coordinator coordinates the general activities of the entire Development team, with a special emphasis on database management and special events. This is a tremendous opportunity for an ambitious professional to learn how a high-impact fundraising operation functions and to work with executive-level leadership to raise the money needed to tackle the biggest human rights issues of our time.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of work related to database and fundraising analytics, including:
  • Executing accurate data entry and updating of constituent information, change of address, etc. 
  • Producing daily gift reports and weekly reports on fundraising and cash flow year to date
  • Analyzing data trends in giving to help leadership determine where there are opportunities or areas of gift solicitation to improve
  • Managing the pledge collections process for the Development team
  • Working with the team to determine the right audience criteria for all mailings and appeals
  • Working closely with Finance department to create and maintain processes and reports for reconciliation of income, pledges and campaign donations
  • Provide general administrative support to the Development team, including but not limited to:
  • Processing all acknowledgement letters (including honorary and memorial gifts, matching gift forms, federated campaign documentation, etc.)
  • Maintaining development department files and materials

·        Provide logistical and other administrative support in planning and executing the annual awards dinner (in October) and other special events

  • Support the Development team and organizational leadership with strategic fundraising planning and Board engagement efforts
  • Recruit and manage interns
  • Other duties as requested based on department and/or organizational need


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2-3 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience with database management strongly preferred; or a solid academic background in finance, statistics, computer science or other analytical studies
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Highly organized, superior attention to detail and follow-through
  • Impeccable “managing up” skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve common goals
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, with particular emphasis on Excel and Word, as well as Web-based research
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capacity to take initiative, be proactive, prioritize duties, and work independently while functioning as a member of a team
  • Creative, energetic thinker, willing to jump in as a team member on diverse efforts
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Sense of humor
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the development field a plus
