Who We Are

Saga Education is a national leader in high-impact, in-school tutoring. We leverage the power of human capital and technology to accelerate student outcomes and create more equitable learning for students.

Since our founding in 2014, we have reached more than 30,000 students and counting. With our proven-to-work tutoring model and focus on relationship building, we have been able to reach students who need it most and support families, educators, and districts through our services. Whether that be through our work in providing direct solutions, building cutting edge products, or advocating for impact, our vision to make education equitable for all students is realized daily.

What We Do

Inside each student lives a story waiting to unfold. We know every student is capable of shaping a story of success—in school, and in life. But not every student has had a fair chance to see it. Saga Education envisions a world where students–especially Black and Latinx students–have equitable access to economic and social mobility. To achieve this, Saga seeks to establish high-impact, in-school-day math tutoring as an integrated part of a student’s education, as a proven response to accelerating educational equity.

Our research shows our program works–not only to raise math scores but to foster the confidence and sense of belonging that underpin all academic success. As a trusted leader in building powerful tutoring programs, Saga provides the resources and tools to enable all districts to take advantage of our expertise. Saga has the evidence and experience to know what works.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Resident Site Director is responsible for supporting Site Directors across multiple schools sites to ensure that Saga math tutoring is functioning effectively.  The Resident Site Director will act as the leader and manager of a site in the event of a short or long term Site Director or Leadership Fellow absence or planned leave.  The Resident Site Director serves as an additional coach for multiple teams of Saga Fellows.  The primary goal of the Resident Site Director is to drive student learning in Saga Math Lab by consistently improving the effectiveness of tutorials.  This is accomplished through weekly observations and coaching sessions with Saga Fellows, consistent collaboration with school administration and teachers to ensure an effective and healthy partnership.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • You will support the cohort by providing short and long term site coverage when permanent Site Directors are absent or on planned leave, or to sites with unique needs or schedules
  • You will be assigned to a larger “home site” to support tutorials, observations and feedback of Fellows on a daily basis when not supporting the teams of Site Directors on leave
  • You must be willing to travel throughout the school district to support sites as needed
  • You will observe a team of Saga Fellows daily, and provide feedback through real-time and weekly coaching sessions to individual Fellows and the team as a whole
  • You will manage classroom behavior, processes and systems and ensure healthy team morale
  • You will analyze data and consult with the Director of Programs on trends and implement the feedback to create action plans and improve site, Fellow and student performance
  • You will adapt and lead all professional development sessions, created by our L&D and Academics teams, for Fellows at your coverage site during the school year, as well as periodically at your home site
  • You will meet regularly with school administrator(s)  when covering a site to provide updates on Saga Math Lab successes and challenges, and engage feedback for program improvements
  • You will meet regularly with math teachers when covering a site to optimize alignment of Saga curriculum with math class instruction and scopes and sequences, and seek feedback for future improvements
  • You will maintain, monitor and analyze student progress and attendance in Saga Math Lab and math classes to create intervention  plans for struggling and chronically absent students in collaboration with their Fellow
  • You will maintain your site budget through expense tracking and monitoring when needed

What We’ll Use To Measure Success

  • Mission Alignment - You have a deep understanding of social injustice in education
  • Decision Quality You make good, timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward
  • Manages Ambiguity - You operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear
  • Directs Work - You provide direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done
  • Develops Talent You develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals
  • Manages Conflict - You handle conflict situations effectively, with a minimum of noise

What You Bring

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • You are proficient in high school math (through Algebra I/II and Geometry)
  • You have lived or work experience in historically underserved communities
  • You hold a valid or transferable state teaching license/certification
  • You have experience with online math learning platforms, preferred but not required
