ABOUT RECOVERY CAFÉ AND RECOVERY CAFÉ NETWORK 

Our Mission: We are a community of individuals who have been traumatized by homelessness, addiction and other mental health challenges coming to know we are loved and that we have gifts to share.

Recovery Café was founded on the truth that every human being is precious and beloved regardless of past trauma, mental and emotional anguish, addictive behaviors or mistakes made. We provide a beautiful, safe, warm, drug and alcohol free space and loving community to anchor people in the sustained recovery needed to gain and maintain access to housing, social and health services, healthy relationships, education and employment. Our program is designed to help people maintain recovery, reduce relapse and fulfill their potential.

The Recovery Café Network (RCN) is committed to nurturing groups seeking to start recovery communities based on the Recovery Café model. Through a cohort learning model, groups and organizations are provided mentorship, materials, expertise, and facilitated learning experiences to create a recovery community in their area. The Network is committed to helping those who join the Network be successful in starting their program, building recovery capital in their communities, and offering effective long-term recovery support for years to come.

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

The Emerging Member Manager will be responsible for the training, mentorship, and ongoing support of the RCN Emerging Member organizations (implementing organizations). Working closely with the RCN team, including Recovery Café’s Founding Director and Program Director, this position will plan and execute RCN’s strategies for helping Emerging Member organizations implement the Recovery Café model. This position will be a resource in helping Emerging Member organizations understand the nuances of the Recovery Café model and provide support as needed and is practical. This role will lead the Network’s expansion to support Latinx communities as Emerging Member Cafes and will oversee translating and curating existing content into Spanish. 

Emerging Member Learning Cohort Experience  

• Reviews Emerging Member organizations applications to join learning cohort alongside RCN team to assess strengths and growth areas for each Emerging Member organization  
• Assists with onboarding and training of Emerging Member organizations in the use of the AGENCY database in daily operations and fulfillment of RCN data reporting requirements. 
• Coordinates the technical assistance (TA) for the RCN Emerging Member Cohort’s activities including each cohort’s launch (initial two day training), monthly video calls, site visits, and other support as necessary
• Implements training curriculum under the guidance of the Recovery Café Program Director and in collaboration with the Emerging Member team
• Acts as the point of contact between RCN and Emerging Member organizations, with support from RCN staff including Recovery Café Founding Director, including emails and phone calls, using a nurturing collaborative approach 
• Supports RCN knowledge management and documentation efforts 
• Leads efforts to develop Spanish training as needed in collaboration with the RCN team and/or consultants, Full Member organizations (organizations that have completed their Emerging Member cohort learning experience), or other partners
• Assists in the preparation, review, and dissemination of RCN reports, presentations, and other deliverables as applicable 

Other Responsibilities 

• Stays up to date on current Recovery Café Seattle operations including facilitating a Recovery Circle and attending related meetings, and shadows RC Seattle operations as needed/available 
• Participates in RCN training events including RCN Rendezvous conference and all Network calls
• Provides input at RCN grant making meetings as needed 
• Other duties as assigned

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Candidate is bilingual in Spanish and English. It is preferred that candidates have lived and/or professional experience with social service providers. Having 3-5 years of work experience in the social services sector, or another field where you developed skills translatable to this position, is preferred. This position requires an understanding of substance use disorder and other mental health challenges, and an openness to learning new skills. In addition, candidates must have the ability and willingness to travel to represent RCN and visit Recovery Cafes part of the Network across North America (estimated travel 5%).

Due to COVID, currently the Emerging Member Manager may work from home three days a week and on-site two days a week at our offices located at Recovery Café’s SODO site, 4202 6th Ave South. At times the candidate may be required to fulfill on-site responsibilities at the SLU location, 2022 Boren Ave. This is not a job that can be done remotely on an ongoing basis.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES INCLUDE

• Three to five years of work experience
• A strong desire to support individuals in recovery from the trauma of addiction, mental illness, and/or homelessness and the organizations that support them
• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, entrepreneurial environment 
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to connect with people of various levels in an organization
• Excellent facilitation skills
• Ability to work independently and with others 
• Comfortable using email, phone, video conferencing, and other such methods to collaborate with others across geographies
• Excellent team player
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus
• Willingness and ability to occasionally flex work hours to accommodate travel/special events
• Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, other digital communications and ability to quickly learn new software platform
• Strong interest in working with diverse populations
• Experience with individuals in recovery from addiction and other mental health challenges a plus
• Willingness and ability to travel to represent RCN and visit Recovery Cafés that are part of the Network
