Case Manager/Financial Educator

Housing Counseling Services, Inc. (HCS) seeks an energetic self-starter to provide case management and financial literacy services for low-income tenants in order to address and improve their financial stability; to families on credit repair, budgeting, money management to improve housing stability. 


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


·        Provide case management services on budgeting, credit repair, money management, asset building, banking services, housing, and social service issues;

·        Develop individual/family service strategies leading to asset-building, financial planning, and self-sufficiency

·        Schedule and facilitate financial planning workshops and provide monthly one-on-one case management;

·        Analyze credit reports and make recommendations on resolving poor credit profiles;

·        Assist in developing household budgets with a plan of action to resolve financial barriers;

·        Develop and update financial education material up-to-date for use in community financial education and outreach;

·        Advocate on the behalf of clients with creditors, landlords, utility service providers, social service agencies, etc.;

·        Follow-up with all clients to be assured that their needs are being met;

·        Maintain accurate computer based files and monitor evaluation of the program;

·        Identify and connect clients with appropriate support services and program;

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

·        Bachelor’s degree with specialized professional experience in case management/social work; extensive experience may serve as a substitute for higher education;

·        Strong ability to work independently and as a team player exercising mature judgment;

·        Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to complete multiple tasks in timely manner;

·        Must have excellent problem solving skills and able to develop innovate solutions;

·        Ability to manage large case load

·        Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a variety of professionals including creditors, community partners, and landlords;

·        Strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills;

·        Ability to translate technical information into layman’s terms;

·        Spanish or other non-English language fluency desirable but not essential;

·        Sensitivity to the needs within the community and to individual clients;

·        Background in housing development, real estate practices, social service work, financial analysis and affordable housing principals helpful. 

·        HUD Housing Counselor Certification or ability to pass the national HUD Housing Counseling Certification exam;

Salary

$50,000 - $55,000
