The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) is seeking a part-time Program Associate to support our Just Transition campaign, which focuses on the decarbonization of the energy utilities sector, as well as the other activities of the Climate and Environmental Justice Program. The Program Associate will support the Climate team as they coordinate faith and values based investors to engage companies, submit shareholder proposals, partner with community and stakeholder groups, engage companies, and develop programming to educate investors.

Who we are:

Founded 50 years ago, ICCR is a pioneer coalition of over 300 active institutional investor members representing faith-based communities, socially responsible asset managers, labor unions, and others who leverage their investments as a catalyst for change. ICCR members work in coalition to engage the world's largest corporations on a range of social and environmental issues impacting communities in the U.S. and globally, including human rights; climate change; food justice; sustainable water policies; health equity; and corporate influence via lobbying and political spending.

About the Just Transition Campaign

In order to meet the demands of a decarbonized energy economy, investors must address not only the changes in business plans and practices necessary to stay within the 1.5°C limit but must do so within a “Just Transition” framework. Just Transition mandates support for necessary climate action with commitments to labor standards, human rights, and inclusive growth—with an explicit focus on the workers and communities who contribute to and are affected by the transition. Investors play an important part in addressing this challenge by integrating the tenets of a Just Transition in their climate investment strategies, and by supporting policy and industrial strategies that align with Just Transition principles.

ICCR’s Just Transition campaign seeks to leverage this unique position in order to facilitate this critical social dialogue both to drive shareholder engagement and investor participation in public- policy discussions on a Just Transition and to inform relevant frameworks for measuring progress.

About the Climate and Environmental Justice Program

Signs of accelerating global warming make it clear that controlling man-made GHG emissions must be a priority if we are to limit the most disastrous impacts of climate change. The longer we wait to control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the more difficult and expensive our task will be. ICCR members seek to move companies in key industries to reduce their contributions to the greenhouse gas emissions that are responsible for climate change. We do this by pressing companies for a phasing out of fossil fuels, and a phasing in of low-carbon, renewable energy sources. We also engage the oil & gas sector on the need for transition planning for a 2 degree or less world. Current engagements focus on the following sectors/issues:

  • A just transition to a clean energy economy
  • Climate lobbying
  • Methane emissions reduction
  • Banks and climate finance
  • Oil & gas sector: planning for a 2 degree world
