Job Summary

As Program Manager, you will join the ED and a team of 6 consultants as well as our board committee producing, teaching, evaluating, quantifying and scaling our Workforce Readiness, Workforce Inclusion and Mental Health programming. You will play a pivotal role building out the organization. We need a capable and scrappy thinker and doer. As our team grows, you will contribute your subject matter expertise as part of an entrepreneurial non-profit start-up.

You will lead our work Workforce Readiness, Workforce Inclusion and Mental Health programming. This will include: Bringing What Works to TransNewYork: Pursuing efforts to enhance all of our programs and introduce new future programming to TransNewYork, ideally in coordination with the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

Programs Manager:

  • Lead TransNewYork's programs, scaling and evaluation work in the Metro New York area, in collaboration with TransNewYork's consultants and Program committee focused on this work
  • Recruit, support, manage projects, and manage relationships with local providers working to scale and evaluate programming. Help navigate barriers and enable them to pursue rigorous evaluations.
  • Lead all of programming
  • Lead our workforce readiness to launch a cohort of training and postsecondary providers regularly able to access wage and graduation outcomes data.
  • Lead our new initiative, Our online transgender/Gender Diverse training program
  • Work with additional local officials from local workforce centers and non-profit agencies on the above goals.

Skills

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience (and optimally a little more).
  • Experience coordinating stakeholders and/or managing programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of program evaluation and implementation science.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based and equitably centered policy.
  • Experience in the public or nonprofit sectors preferred.
  • Strong candidates may also have a master's degree (MPA, MPP, MBA).

  • High emotional intelligence, outstanding project management and written/oral communication skills.
  • Adaptability and a "can-do" positive approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead collaboratively.
  • Preference for candidates (i) with lived experience in or near to poverty, and/or (ii) who embody principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in all their work.

This is a primarily remote position with strong preference given to candidates based in New York due to the potential for travel when requested from community partners.
