The Washington Market School incorporates Dr. Montessori's principles with the influences of the Reggio Emilia approach. Currently, WMS is actively looking for Substitute teachers or those who can work per diem.
A substitute teacher serves as support to a team of teachers in the event of a planned or unplanned teacher absence. S/he ideally is someone who has some experience working in an education setting and enjoys working in a vibrant community of children and teachers.
This is a flexible position which remains ongoing through the course of the year. Some of our past substitute teachers have become current full time teachers.
If you are someone who wants to be a part of a school community this is a nice way to begin.
Minimum qualifications include either AA or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or relevant field. Candidate should also possess a firm knowledge and understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well with both teachers and parents.
Candidates meeting at least the minimum qualifications and must not have applied to our school before.
