English Language Learner Teacher

The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher reports to the Director of Student Support and works with English Language Learners (ELLs) or those students for whom English is not their primary language. The ELL teachers work with ELLs to help them acquire fluency in English, both spoken and in the written word.

Background Two Rivers Public Charter School serves a diverse group of over 970 students in preschool through eighth grade. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurately assess the need for language support services for English Learners 
• Deliver high-quality English language instruction and interventions programming
• Provide guided reading and vocabulary instruction
• Guide students to achieve high academic expectations
• Coach and support teaching staff in supporting ELL students through classroom modifications/accommodations, and other teaching tools
• Work on an interdisciplinary team including classroom teachers and special education teachers
• Screening English Learners and administering the ACCESS test is preferred
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• This position requires a degree in ELL or ESL, or a degree in Special Education and at least one year of satisfactory ELL lead teaching experience, or a degree in education, a certification in ESOL and/or TEFL, and one year of satisfactory ELL lead teaching experience.
