Knox County Homeless Coalition is seeking a responsible, enthusiastic, and positive role model to serve as a Coordinator for The Landing Place, our comprehensive youth program supporting highly resilient and often marginalized youth. The Youth Center Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the youth who come to the low-barrier, drop-in center at 61 Park Street. They will be responsible for the smooth and safe running of our Youth Center, coordinating volunteers, accepting and processing donations, planning programming, and conducting outreach in the community. Most importantly, the Youth Center Coordinator will cultivate a positive, engaging, and welcoming environment at TLP and make trusting and enduring connections with youth, families, and community members.

The Ideal candidate will show strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills, as well as a passion for connecting with young people. The Coordinator will need to communicate clearly with fellow staff and volunteers, exercise good professional judgment and boundaries, and be able to give and follow written and verbal directions.

All staff at The Landing Place embrace a strength-based, trauma-informed approach to youth development, and act as community advocates on behalf of high-risk youth and families. We seek caring, honest, creative, and supportive staff members who are collaborative-minded, solution-oriented, non-judgemental, and capable of maintaining a sense of humor. Our staff are passionate about working with youth and have a proven ability to support others in caring, courageous, and inspiring ways.

The Youth Center Coordinator will be scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Hours can extend into evenings. The Coordinator will be included in weekly meetings and planning and will oversee staff and volunteers in the Youth Center. The Youth Center Coordinator will be trained to drive our 12 passenger van.

Staff should have at least 2 years of experience working with youth in a professional setting, and a bachelor's degree; preferably in human services, education, or related field.  Staff must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (applicants must be 21+ years of age and have 1 year of safe driving experience to operate KCHC passenger vans). Staff must be proficient in reading and speaking English, able to push and lift 50 pounds, and be willing to submit to a physical examination with an authorized physician within 2 months of employment. A positive attitude, empathy, and good judgement are a must!

Training in First Aid/CPR, Defensive driving, and Passenger Assistance Techniques will be provided. Please note that all hires are subject to background checks including federal and state exclusion checks, DHHS check, and a Motor Vehicles Report check.

This position will pay $18 - $20 / hour, based on experience. KCHC offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes a choice of health coverage (including an employer-sponsored health savings account for Bronze level coverage), optional dental and vision insurance, paid time-off benefits, 13 paid holidays (including your birthday off, because you deserve it!), and additional time off in the summer.

To apply, please send your resume and a cover letter sharing why you would be a good fit to our team to people@homehelphope.org and note “TLP Youth Center Coordinator Applicant” in the subject line.
