STRATEGIST

STRATEGIST SUMMARY:

We are looking for a talented team player who is a co-creator, self-starter, evaluator, and researcher with proven capacity building experience in communities across Southern California. The ideal candidate is flexible, willing to adapt and change as we go. We are committed to hiring a Strategist who uplifts core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.


The Strategist serves alongside senior staff on the Client Services Team on a variety consulting and training projects for nonprofit and government clients. The Strategist is responsible for supporting the design and delivery of data, research, and evaluation activities as well as project and client management and support across multiple ongoing projects. Consequently, the Strategist must possess strong organizational and time management skills including supporting the client relationship, maintaining project assignments and deliverables, regular reporting, meetings and communication, and ensuring resources and efforts are focused on project priorities and are on-track as necessary to complete projects. The Strategist will also perform research activities that may include researching documents and materials, drafting assessment tools, assisting in data collection and analysis, writing reports and preparing other materials (such as presentations) to meet project deliverables.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

We are excited to meet with candidates who possess the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the following duties and responsibilities:


  1. Co-lead ongoing projects and teams with an attentive eye on the horizon; be responsible for prioritizing and managing projects, maintaining all pending and active consulting project files, and briefing team members on project status and upcoming deadlines.
  2. Assist client services staff in building and nurturing relationships with our clients through client contact and service activities.
  3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners, grantors, funders, and other stakeholders as they relate to current and future projects and contracts.
  4. Select and design appropriate data collection methods; facilitate data collection both in person and online.
  5. Employ data visualization techniques, database management, etc. for presentations of data summary and insights, to include materials for presentations and draft evaluation reports for clients.
  6. Advocate for and work with clients to align contract deliverables with DEIJ best practices.
  7. Identify opportunities to uphold DEIJ values in our work and organizational culture; demonstrate a willingness to participate in DEIJ-related reflection, dialogue, and work.
  8. Design and revise training and educational materials; facilitate online and in-person trainings, seminars, and dialogues for various audiences within the nonprofit sector.
  9. Work in partnership with senior staff to build annual client services project budget.
  10. Work with senior staff to draft and submit project proposals; identify opportunities for future projects.
  11. Assist in other CNM-wide projects; provide back-up support to other departments as required; and represent CNM in various public forums as necessary.
  12. Perform other duties, as needed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience in developing and fostering client relationships and managing client projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment with strong attention to details.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize. Knowledge and experience with database and data analysis a plus (SPSS, Access, Monday.com, and Salesforce).
  • Experience in designing and delivering trainings, workshops, or seminars.
  • Ability to develop presentations and summarize information into formats for a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrate initiative and good judgement, creativity, and a positive attitude.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of professional experience related to the job description, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of related professional experience. Degrees in data science, data analysis, business, social sciences, or other related disciplines are desired.
  • Extensive professional experience in the nonprofit field involving direct client contact, client management, and/or community engagement.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams, and other online tools and communication platforms. Experience with Monday.com and Salesforce, a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with database and data analysis (SPSS, Access, SurveyMonkey, Monday.com, and Salesforce).
  • High degree of ethics and integrity.
  • Bilingual preferred (ability to read, write, speak Spanish a plus).


SALARY RANGE:

$70,000-$75,000
