    NEW ROCHELLE PUBLIC LIBRARY (NRPL) FOUNDATION - JOB DESCRIPTION

    Title: NRPL Foundation Director (working title)

    Reports To: Board President(s)

    Part-time, average of 20-hour per week (event-driven), new position

    Salary commensurate with experience

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The NRPL Foundation Director assists the NRPL Foundation’s Board of Directors to meet its short-term and long-range organizational, programmatic and fundraising goals in support of the New Rochelle Public Library. The Director is responsible for the general management of the Foundation and works closely with the Foundation’s volunteer leadership team and committees to fulfill their specific goals and responsibilities.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The NRPL Foundation Director will:

    Advance the mission of the NRPL Foundation by working closely with the Board of Directors in the fulfillment of the Foundation’s mission.

    Oversee the day-to-day activity of the Foundation, including supervision of additional staff as determined by the Board.

    Assist the Foundation’s President(s) to organize the bimonthly board meetings, including preparation and distribution of all meeting materials.

    Assure that donations are properly entered into the Foundation’s donor database and are acknowledged in a timely manner. Inform the leadership team and fundraising committee of exceptional gifts received.

    Prepare acknowledgement letters and reports as needed for the Board President(s) review and approval.

    In collaboration with the Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee, help implement the Foundation’s short- and long-term fundraising plans and activities, including special events. Research grants and other fundraising opportunities.

    Ensure compliance, at all levels, with NRPLF’s policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local laws.

    In conjunction with the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors, help to recruit and on-board new Board members.

    Maintain sound financial practices; working with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee and Treasurer to help to prepare the annual budget and monitor that the organization operates within budget guidelines.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Passion for libraries and a belief that libraries can change lives.

    Enthusiastic professional with responsible leadership experience – a leader who will embrace all Foundation activities, whether it’s fundraising, event organization, outreach to prospective volunteers and donors, and members of the New Rochelle community. A thinker as well as a doer.

    A “roll up your sleeves” leader who has experience and appreciates working with and supporting a volunteer Board of Directors.

    Successful solicitor with demonstrable experience working directly with volunteers, donors and funders.

    Effective writer and strong communicator.

    Manager who guides, motivates, and helps keep volunteers on task.

    Team player – open and flexible.

    Excellent organizational skills.

    Knowledge of Donor Perfect or comparable donor management software helpful.
