Job Title: Community Arts Liaison

Classification: Full Time

Reports to: Executive Director

Compensation: Salary Range of $45,000-$50,000

Overview:

The Community Arts Liaison is responsible for building strong relationships with residents, libraries, churches, local businesses, non-profits, and foundations in Baltimore and forging a link between them and Creative Alliance staff. The CA liaison will develop a vision for this department and collaborate with Creative Alliance staff to infuse community arts in all programs. This position includes overseeing all logistics for our signature community festivals and events such as Great Halloween Lantern Parade which reaches more than 10,000 people of all ages, World Refugee Day, Posadas, and Kwanzaa Family Day. The CA liaison will build audiences for all programs and provide space for the community to influence programming. The position uses arts to foster community engagement with a diverse and changing population, including immigrants and refugees


Principal Responsibilities:


Community Arts Programming – 40%


  • Work with program staff to create and implement original and inclusive arts programs that enrich and positively transform the community by making a long-term connection to Creative Alliance
  • Foster dialogue between diverse groups of people in the community through the arts and program staff
  • Cultivate opportunities for inclusive neighborhood engagement and professional development for artists and performers
  • Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with neighbors and community organizations, including area schools, community associations, churches, and businesses
  • Attend neighborhood meetings and functions to establish and maintain community relations
  • Keep abreast of neighborhood and city-wide community events and opportunities


Events Management – 40%


  • Manage community events from conception, planning, and budgeting through implementation and evaluation
  • Identify new opportunities for events within the community
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for events


Advancement – 20%


  • Coordinate with the Executive Director and the Development Department on community arts funding opportunities
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Director for news and media opportunities, including Spanish language media
  • Develop sponsorship opportunities for local businesses.

Requirements:


  • Experience in developing and implementing community arts programs
  • Experience as a visual artist, filmmaker, performer/musician, writer
  • Experience with project and events management including production schedules, budgets, and timelines
  • Experience with volunteer management


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Fluent in Spanish, French, and/or Arabic
  • Ability to establish relations and collaborate with diverse communities and a working knowledge of racial justice advocacy and issues
  • Experience in Grant writing, public relations, and partnership development
