SUMMARY:

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR magazine, an award-winning trade publication in the business-to-business publishing industry, is seeking an Editorial Assistant to help in the production of its monthly magazine, its quarterly print magazine supplements (Safety Leader and Line Contractor), its website, e-newsletters, and other platforms. The ideal candidate would be an excellent copy editor and writer and would have knowledge of magazine publishing procedures. 


REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates must possess college level experience writing, copyediting and proofreading; knowledge of the AP Stylebook is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with social media, writing for the web and SEO plus some familiarity with web content management systems. 
  • Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus. 
  • Ability to function both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines while demonstrating professionalism under tight timelines.
  • Capable of setting priorities when multiple demands are present.
  • Must be exceptionally detail oriented and have experience using Office 365 and MS Teams.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General office work environment. We are currently operating under a hybrid schedule due to COVID-19.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Copy edits editorial content, such as news articles, columns, and feature stories, for both print and digital platforms. 
  • Edits, designs and produces a section of the print issue highlighting new products, such as tools, equipment, and other products related to electrical construction.
  • Supports the production of each monthly issue of ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR and completes daily updates to the magazine’s website, www.ecmag.com
  • Writes original copy when needed for news stories; adapts press releases into web-exclusive or newsletter content.
  • Assists in the gathering and updating of metrics.
  • Assists Associate Editor in the production of eblasts sponsored by advertisers.
