The KIPP Foundation is looking for a Financial Analyst to join the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This is a full-time role that reports to the Sr. Director of FP&A and will be based in our San Francisco, CA office.
As an integral part of the FP&A team, you will play an important role in the foundation’s budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes. You will perform financial analysis/modeling and gain experience working in a non-profit finance group supporting foundation programs and employees.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Work as a thought partner with Sr. Director of FP&A, CFO and budget managers on budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes
· Provide recommendations and guidance on financial results, allocations and variances based on budget to actual analyses and trends
· Collaborate and support Sr. Director of FP&A and CFO to prepare Finance Committee and Board presentations
· Collaborate with Accounting and Grants groups to complete month end close and reporting processes
· Collaborate with Grants group to support internal philanthropic and federal grant reporting requirements
· Participate in all major finance department undertakings such as annual audit, indirect cost analysis, invoice approvals, year-end close, etc.
· Update budgeting and forecasting assumptions in the FP&A financial system (Adaptive Insights) based on historical and insightful analyses, current program strategic decisions and conversations with budget owners
· Serve as administrator for Adaptive Insights, which includes but not limited to:
1) Managing data connections between FP&A financial system and other financial systems
2) Creating and distributing financial reports to budget managers and executive team members
3) Managing multiple forecast and budget versions
4) Troubleshooting data inputs and assumptions, when necessary
5) Researching and proposing system upgrades and/or enhancements
6) Aligning financial system structure to internal organizational structure
7) Performing ad-hoc analyses and addressing strategic questions based on system data

Experience and Qualifications
· BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and a minimum of three years’ relevant experience
· Experience in budgeting, forecasting and analyzing operating and capital expenses, as well as building and managing complex financial models
· Experience working with Financial Forecasting & Budgeting systems, Adaptive Insights strongly preferred
· Experience managing and interpreting financial statements, strongly preferred
· Experience with accounting systems and/or grant accounting, strongly preferred
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills, specifically Microsoft Excel
· Proven track record of successfully managing multiple stakeholders to meet ambitious goals

· Travel requirements, sporadic - less than 10% schedule.
