Job Title: Match Support Specialist for Southern Worcester County

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, our Match Support Specialists perform the functions that are essential to our work serving youth. This Match Support Specialist in Southern Worcester County will focus on growing the organization’s relationships and impact in Southern Worcester County communities.

Position Purpose:

The Match Support Specialist for Southern Worcester County will identify successful matches between youth and volunteer mentors through effective interviewing and careful assessments, and provide support to mentors, families and children to ensure long lasting relationships that help children meet life goals. This position is part of a team of dedicated nonprofit professionals who are working to help children reach their full potential.

This position is based in Worcester, MA and at Nichols College in Dudley with particular focus on the Southern Worcester County region (specifically Southbridge, Sturbridge, Dudley, Webster and Oxford). This position will help grow our Site-Based programs in partnership with Nichols College and various community partners and our Community-Based Mentoring program by making new matches between volunteers and children and providing high quality support to volunteers and children already matched. While some of our programs in Southern Worcester County are well-established, it is an area of high need that has limited community resources for children. We hope to expand on the programs and relationships we have there so Big Brothers Big Sisters can have a greater presence and impact on the community. *Due to Covid-19, at this time the position is remote and will do most program related activities virtually.*

Responsibilities:

• Conduct volunteer enrollment including orientations, trainings, interviews and background checks.

• Conduct client enrollment including parent/child interviews, and child safety education. Assess and refers families for alternative or additional services as needed.

• Identify child safety issues for volunteers, children and their families.

• Conduct volunteer and client re-assessments and updates as needed.

• Use critical thinking and good judgment to make recommendations for child and volunteer enrollment.

• Create matches and facilitate match meetings in accordance with volunteer and family schedules.

• Provide match support to caseload of approximately 60-70 Big and Little “Matches”

• Utilize Salesforce CRM to enter all information on volunteers and children.

• Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for each match according to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and local agency standards. Follow confidentially requirements with integrity.

• Attend community events and networking events to promote the BBBS mission and presence in Southern Worcester County

• Actively recruit Bigs from Nichols College and the general population in the area

• Perform other duties as required.

Position Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

• Bi-lingual Capacity strongly preferred ($500 sign-on bonus for fluent Spanish speaker)

• Experience working in a non-profit or mentoring environment, or organizing youth serving programs preferred.

• Strong writing and communication skills required.

• Ability to speak publicly and perform presentations.

• Strong assessment skills and orientation to research within mentoring field.

• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.

• Minimum of three professional references.

• Must have driver’s license and own reliable car.

Travel:

This position requires frequent travel to various program sites in the Southern Worcester County area. The position will be based out of both the BBBS Worcester Office and our satellite office at Nichols College. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.32/mile.
