Overall Role:

Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is seeking a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, and people-centered Director of Technology to oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT solutions within Resolve to Save Lives. This individual will oversee IT infrastructure needs for all global offices, coordinate efforts with in-country staff, and report to the Chief Operating Officer. The candidate will have deep-seated experience with IT systems design and development from business requirements analysis to day-to-day management to meet the organization’s goals. After four years of rapid expansion, Resolve to Save Lives has announced plans to become a fully independent, US-based nonprofit organization, effective by June 2022. The Director of Technology will take the lead in formalizing the IT department during the transition phase and build systems and processes to support a virtual work environment. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise and provide strategic leadership and planning for the organization's technology infrastructure that is designed for growth globally. This full-time position is currently remote. The incumbent will be expected to convene routinely for team meetings in NYC beginning in January 2022.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Systems Analysis and Design

  • Determine and operationalize the data management, networking, security, and systems functionality needs of the organization globally so teams across all offices are empowered technologically to meet their goals
  • Evaluate vendors and select the most appropriate solutions to support the organization’s goals (both in the US and internationally), including employee communications, content management, cloud services and storage, project and task management, asset tracking, digital asset management, customer relationship management (CRM), and cybersecurity awareness
  • Review performance of existing IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements to support current needs and future growth
  • Provide expertise and collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations functions to select relevant software to meet business needs

IT Policy and Process Management

  • Responsible for migrating data and assets to the new entity
  • Initiate the creation of a Help Desk with the ability to ticket and track requests, provide remote support in a timely manner, and engage in thoughtful problem solving with staff
  • Develop IT policies and procedures; lead staff trainings to ensure adoption and compliance
  • Deliver high quality service with emphasis on minimizing disruption to employees
  • Work with COO to determine and employ procedures to minimize security risks; serve as primary cybersecurity resource and maintain ongoing initiatives

Asset and Resource Management

  • Continuously research, evaluate, and incorporate appropriate industry best practices with an ongoing focus on innovation and creativity
  • Establish processes and standards for IT hardware procurement and inventory management
  • Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and backup procedures
  • Develop departmental budget, including the costs associated with implementing and maintaining new infrastructure
  • Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and support of all hardware and software
  • Evaluate staffing needs and manage team, considering both in-house and third-party solutions, to support the organization globally
  • Manage staff in alignment with RTSL’s learning and staff development goals

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields is required
  • Ten years or more of professional experience in IT
  • Five years of more of demonstrated experience working in a leadership capacity
  • Operational experience establishing a new entity and/or start-up environment for a global organization; demonstrated success with change and implementation management
  • Strong technical knowledge of current technology solutions, protocols, and best practices for a global organization
  • Advanced in data management, networking administration, and security
  • Strong ability to analyze and model business processes, develop metrics, and recommend solutions
  • Collaborative, flexible, and resilient work style in a rapidly changing environment; energized about navigating complexity
  • Skilled at receiving and integrating feedback
  • Clear and tactful communicator with internal and external audiences
  • Experience building and training an empathetic, effective, and efficient IT support team
  • Effective partner with stakeholders and peers; proactive in managing vendor expectations and performance
  • Demonstrates empathy, humility, and good judgement when working across cultures and geographies


  • Experience establishing remote or hybrid teams
