ICS organizes youth and families in Boyle Heights, unincorporated East Los Angeles, City Terrace, El Sereno, and Lincoln Heights. 


Description 

Through this project, ICS will continue to focus on coordinated outreach efforts to ensure that individuals in the Eastside of Los Angeles that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 are connected to much-needed services and resources. For nearly a year, ICS has provided Eastside of LA residents with critical information related to COVID-19 including in regards to testing locations, mobile clinics, resources, and pertinent services.

The Project Lead for this effort will ensure the information distributed is accurate and current and will support an outreach team to conduct effective education and systems navigation efforts. The Project Lead will also provide LA County with strategic guidance based on lessons learned from ongoing outreach efforts in order to identify gaps and solutions. The Project Lead will report directly to the Special Projects Associate. 


Tasks include:

  • Supports 4-5 community education team members with daily outreach (door knocking, phone banking, or community tabling) 
  • Provides necessary outreach materials to the Community Health Workers 
  • Creates, updates, and provides outreach scripts
  • Tracks referrals and linkages with community residents 
  • Trains outreach team members and keeps up with any updates put forth by the County and State 
  • Coordinates team schedules
  • Tracks daily outreach activities and reports it every evening to the Project Manager
  • Ensures accurate outreach tracking, linkage and other activities such as surveys, pledge cards or any other agreed upon outreach tactics
  • Identifies resources needed for the community at large
  • Attends required training sessions
  • Conducts outreach to area businesses
  • Works closely with Project Manager on mapping and messaging
  • Helps develop communications strategies 


ICS is seeking a person who meets the preferred qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to social justice 
  • Minimum 2 years experience providing outreach support at some capacity
  • Minimum 2 years experience in youth organizing or community organizing in low-income communities of color
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to prioritize and set goals by developing weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plans
  • Flexibility to work weekends as needed 
  • Track record of accomplishing goals and objectives individually and in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to supervise a part-time team
  • Ability to work in a team setting and provide/receive constructive feedback
  • Must be computer literate and preferably have experience working with databases, presentations, and internet research
  • CA driver’s license and access to a reliable automobile (with at minimum, liability insurance)
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
