We are seeking a creative and experienced early childhood leader to serve as the early childhood education director for our Brandon location.
The Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education, for all children within the center’s care. Our Brandon early childhood program location is a 4 STAR, Prequalified PreK Program which serves 54 children. The Director will also play a role in helping develop Saplings, a new and innovative nature based afterschool program with a focus on grade level reading and executive functioning skills.
Focus on Food: RCPCC is committed to providing nutritious, delicious high quality food to our children. We believe that food is medicine. Because we believe that, our Brandon Center has a vital role to play in providing the community with a well-stocked food pantry. We provide food, locally sourced produce, and dairy products to 35 families weekly. Additionally, we have an outdoor classroom with lush vegetable gardens for the children to work in and eat from.
The right candidate will directly oversee operations and ensure they are in accordance with Vermont State Childcare Regulations and ensure that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*Developing a rich curriculum, managing staff and facilities, and long-range planning alongside the Executive Director.
*Manage quality standards in accordance with the vision and with state and local requirements. Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies; ensure legal and financial compliance.
*Assist Teachers in developing educational curriculum; collaborate with staff to develop positive learning activities; manage adherence to state and local regulations.
*Maintain student records in accordance with regulations.
*Maintain appropriate and clear communications with parents of current and prospective students through direct conversation, newsletters and other creative outlets; implement community outreach activities with other agency directors to maintain and promote positive community relationships.
*Work with kitchen staff and Food Program Director to approve menus and food purchases. This location also maintains a community food pantry.
*Oversee various office functions including timesheets, accounts payable and receivable, tuition billing and payment, human resources and personnel management and purchasing.
*Resolve conflicts (including corrective action when necessary) to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
*Establish and implement procedures to ensure smooth operations of the ECE Center.
*Ensure staff is trained appropriately, and completes required professional development activities throughout the year. Some planning of activities for various professional development days will be required.
*Maintain an individual professional development plan (IPDP) to ensure continuous quality improvement, with a commitment to ongoing training.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
*Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
*At least 3 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
*The ideal candidate will be familiar with guidelines and regulations surrounding early childhood education and can serve as a mentor for others. This candidate must be a self-starter, detail oriented, organized, and willing to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment.
*Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
*Must be able to use the computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 lbs, and work indoors or outdoors. Working with young children requires getting down to their eye level from time to time in order to effectively engage with them.
*Must clear a background check, including fingerprints.
*Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 21 credits in ECE.
*Vermont’s Childcare Regulations require additional trainings, available online: Mandated Reporter, Vermont’s Online Orientation, Basic Specialized Care
