Ghetto Film School (GFS) is an award-winning nonprofit founded in 2000 to educate, develop and celebrate the next generation of great American storytellers. With locations in New York City, Los Angeles, and London, GFS is the most elite and inclusive film academy in the world, equipping students for top universities and careers in the creative industries through two tracks: an introductory education program for high school students and early-career support for alumni and young professionals. GFS annually serves over 6,000 individuals, 14-34 years of age.

Ghetto Film School is seeking a Development Manager to oversee the functioning of the Development Department’s operations and systems, in addition to supporting marketing and communications efforts. This position will be based in the Bronx, NY. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Development Manager is responsible for the following primary roles:

●      Manage and oversee GFS’s donor database – including all gift entry, reports, record updating, reconciling gifts with the finance department, pulling mailing lists, working to continually improve the system;

●      Manage and oversee the Development Department’s acknowledgement process, solicitation and cultivation activity tracking;

●      Plan and produce special events and a Benefit in LA, in partnership with the CDO and Events Consultant. Work with RSVPs, list building, registrations and ticketing;

●      Write copy for and edit written materials for style, grammar, and tone;

●      Manage email communications via Mail Chimp and targeted email campaigns;

●      Produce and maintain online content for www.ghettofilm.org;

●      Conduct prospect/donor research;

●      Create a content calendar to be approved by CDO that maps out social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Utilize Hootsuite to program posts;

●      Create quarterly analytic reports to share with the CDO and Chief Executive Officer;

●      Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

●      Bachelor’s degree, with an interest in development preferred;

●      Strongest candidates will have 2+ years of experience working in a development department;

●      Impeccable writing skills;

●      Adept at working on numerous projects at once;

●      Excellent computer skills: experience with Salesforce or a similar donor database; Microsoft Suite, Excel and Word; basic HTML skills and experience with user-friendly web development platforms (e.g. Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, Wordpress).
