Description

Students Run Philly Style seeks a Director of Development. This individual will be on the leadership team and work directly with the Students Run Philly Style Executive Director and the Board of Directors and play an important role in ensuring a strong base of corporate and individual supporters. Much of their time will be focused on developing and administering sponsorship campaigns for events, projects, programs, and other organizational priorities. They will serve as primary lead for the Philly Style 8K race and the Extra Mile gala events as well as peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives. This position is full time and reports to Executive Director, who will collaborate with this position to develop a strategy and assist in implementation. A small portion of time will be dedicated to Fund Development operations.


Specific responsibilities


Lead Development Team with a focus on Corporate and Individual Philanthropy Efforts:

  • Conduct routine prospect research on individuals and corporate donor prospects, and propose new donor prospects for Students Run Philly Style
  • Prepare research for and participate in meetings with supporters
  • Lead outreach to new potential donors/sponsors and build and manage relationships
  • Develop written and graphic materials (proposals, packets, etc.) to support outreach and follow-up
  • Propose giving levels and benefits for individuals and corporations
  • Implement and track campaign strategies, including managing stakeholders conducting outreach on behalf of Students Run Philly Style, such as staff, Board, Advisory Council, and others
  • Participate in ongoing stewardship of and reporting to sponsors
  • Manage relationships with corporate and individuals donors and assess their interest in increased involvement
  • Build strategies for lower-level gift campaigns, as assigned
  • Lead donor stewardship initiatives
  • Supports and Manages the Manager of Institutional Giving


Lead Fund Development Events and “Fund Racers” initiatives:

  • Plan and implement donor-oriented events to engage donors in the work of the organization (Extra Mile gala, Philly Style 8K)
  • Routinely update the donor section of the Students Run Philly Style website, including ticket and donation pages for the Philly Style 8K, Extra Mile gala, “fund racers” initiatives and other fundraising campaigns
  • Represent Students Run Philly Style at public events
  • Manage “fund-racing” opportunities
  • Support individuals as they raise money on behalf of the organization
  • Manage stewardship and logistics of these efforts


Lead Fund Development operations:

  • Input research and reports of contact into database
  • Administer sponsorship and annual giving benefits
  • Enter gifts into database and provide acknowledgement as needed


Board and Committee Management:

  • Prepare materials for and participate in routine board and advisory committee meetings
  • Ensure strong meeting follow-up by sharing notes and actions, keeping stakeholders on task
  • Manage board, advisory, or project committees’ action steps, as assigned


The successful candidate will possess:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Four years of experience in positions of Fund Development or Sales
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work collaboratively to meet departmental goals
  • Comfort and ease with technology; knowledge of eTapestry of other Blackbaud products preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required
  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia youth development/mentoring/long distance running communities appreciated but not required.
  • Experience managing donor events
