Spectrum's award-winning team of journalists is looking for an energetic news editor to knock out stories that educate, challenge and inspire our deep-thinking audience of scientists.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious science journalist to make an impact on the exciting field of autism.

You will be responsible for commissioning and editing news items, and also for coordinating the team's fast-paced coverage of autism and neuroscience at conferences around the world. Genetics, cognition and behavior, research ethics and molecular neuroscience quicken your heart. You are highly organized and bursting with ideas and enthusiasm for leading a dynamic team of reporters. You will manage a team of three full-time reporters and several freelancers.

Spectrum is funded by the Simons Foundation but is editorially independent.

Spectrum is the go-to destination for autism news. The site also features long-form 'deep dives' on topics ranging from unproven therapies to autism in Africa. These articles have won top journalism awards. Spectrum stories are syndicated by The Atlantic, Scientific American, Slate and The Washington Post, among other popular outlets.

Bring at least five years of experience to the table — preferably including experience in digital journalism — a solid biology background and impeccable news judgment. We offer a generous salary and truly excellent benefits.
