The American Lung Association has a great opportunity for a Coordinator, Tobacco Control & Lung Health to join our incredible team in the Upper Midwest Region.  Working as a member of the Mission Team you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education, and advocacy. 

In this role, you will be responsible for the successful completion of assigned/required activities for the MFH grant, tobacco control programs, Lung Force Expo, and other lung health programs. This is a grant-funded position.


-       Coordinate, implement and evaluate tobacco and lung health programs including but not limited to Missouri Foundation for Health Smokefree Families-Healthier Babies grant, Freedom From Smoking, and LUNG FORCE Expo throughout Missouri

-       Work with other mission staff to coordinate and facilitate efforts, local coalitions and networks, and other program partners

-       Develop and effectively utilize timelines and work plans to ensure completion of program deliverables

-       Adhere to ALA’s administrative and recordkeeping guidelines to support accurate reporting of grant or project deliverables and activities

-       Contribute to quarterly progress reports and monthly reporting of program activities

-       Organize and facilitate meetings for MFH grant partners, attend conferences and trainings as assigned

-       Implement and support in local outreach strategies for marketing programs and services

-       Develop relationships with local grant partners

-       Provide technical assistance and support to local grant partners as they plan and implement smoking cessation outreach to their constituents

-       Facilitate delivery of smoking cessation services including the Freedom From Smoking® program to low income residents and other individuals served by our local partners

-       Identify partnership and sponsorship opportunities with other organizations, agencies, and/or individuals

-       Utilize written and online technological tools for programmatic use including power point presentations, surveys and evaluation instruments

-       Utilize online databases for program recordkeeping and promotion

-       Participate on ALA-UM Region and MO Mission teams

-       Assist with development events and tasks as needed

-       Perform duties as assigned


-       Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of experience in public health or related field

-       Experience in health education program delivery (previous employment, internship, volunteer work, etc.)

-       Experience in the implementation and evaluation of programs

-       Ability to take initiative, think strategically, and work both independently and as a team member

-       Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

-       Excellent customer service skills; ability to clearly articulate the mission and vision of the ALA

-       Experience in planning, promoting and executing trainings and workshops

-       Strong project management and implementation skills to execute specific program deliverables

-       Strategic in developing/maintaining relationships with medical professionals, public health community, and members of the public

-       Computer proficiency; knowledge using Microsoft Office and Customer Management software helpful

-       Familiarity with Greater St. Louis community preferred

-       Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required; must have a valid driver’s license

-       Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies)
