Manna’s strategic plan beginning in fiscal year 2021 includes a priority of stewarding community investments and remaining sustainable. The Accounting Manager is a key member of Manna Food Center’s Administrative team, responsible for all accounting and bookkeeping functions, ensuring all financial information is appropriately and accurately recorded in the accounting system, completing budget and forecast, and preparing both the monthly and year-end financial statements. The Accounting Manager is tasked with ensuring organizational fiduciary duties are consistent with non-profit GAAP standards. This position will supervise a part-time bookkeeper and will report directly into the Director of Administration.

Duties and responsibilities include, and are not limited to the following:

General Ledger

 Review general ledger and prepare journal entries/adjustments as needed to correct balances;

 Assist in the transaction preparation, posting and reconciliation for all books of account and related journals;

 Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements as part of closing out the month, the year, and grants;

 Prepare grant reports with supporting documentation in collaboration with grants compliance and program staff.

Month End Closing

 Manage the monthly accounting close process and meeting reporting deadlines;

 Create and present daily and monthly journal entries for approval;

 Prepare monthly revenue financial statements, supporting account analysis, and budget to actual variances;

 Prepare monthly revenue recognition journal entries;

 Develop, assign and review monthly account analysis.

Accounts Receivable

 Manage all contract, product and service invoicing and ensure grantors are billed accurately and timely;

 Analyze accounts receivable aging reports to determine if there are any issues;

 Manage and coordinate the follow-up with grantors regarding outstanding payments.

Accounts Payable

 Review and distribute vendor invoices to appropriate manager for approval for payment;

 Enter invoices into QuickBooks and print checks;

 Analyze expenses and contracts to look for cost savings opportunities.

Budgeting and Forecasting

 Work with the Director of Administration with developing the annual budget;

Manna seeks Accounting Manager.

 Work with the Director of Administration with monthly forecasting activities of support, revenue, and expenses;

 Prepare profitability analysis for programs and services.

Annual Audit

 Create and enter closing entries and those prepared by the external auditors;

 Prepare year-end work papers as assigned by the Director of Administration or requested by the external auditors;

 Create or gather all documents requested by the auditor, provide on-site support during audit fieldwork, and help review and approve the audit draft before statements are finalized.

Taxes

 Prepare, if necessary, the annual IRS Form 990 and Form 990-T and supporting schedules;

 Prepare the Annual IRS Form 1099s.

Other

 Prepare Quarterly Investment reconciliations;

 Prepare fixed asset schedules;

 Determine quarterly tracking of and reporting of restricted funds/net assets;

 Record inventory adjustments throughout the year ;

 Maintain the Accounting Manual;

 Submit state registration for fundraising activities

 Prepare bi-weekly payroll and appropriate distribution to retirement plan accounts;

 Manage the QuickBooks file, and provide backup to the Director of Administration;

 Do other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Director of Administration.

Minimum Requirement

 Self-directed, highly motivated, reliable

 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

 Minimum of 5-years’ experience using QuickBooks (Advanced) accounting software

 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in non-profit accounting and following Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures and Accrual Accounting

 Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Calendar

 Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills

 Must respect and protect the sensitive nature of personnel information

 CPA or CPA candidacy preferred

Salary Range: Annual salary of high 50’s to mid 60’s commensurate with experience.

Full-time, exempt position, working approximately 40 hours per week. We believe in work-life integration and are committed to keeping the workload in alignment with the true hours worked.
