BREAD is a diverse and multi-faith coalition of 41 congregations fighting for racial and economic justice in Franklin County. Our shared faith values call us to work collectively for systemic change, transforming Franklin County into a community that reflects the dignity of all people.
Since our founding in 1996, BREAD has won the passage of statewide legislation to rein in predatory lending interest rates, the establishment of an affordable housing trust fund which has led to the creation of more than 9,000 units of affordable housing, the allocation of $2.1 million for small business incubators, and implementation of programs to divert youth from the criminal justice system and to improve treatment for people with mental illness.
BREAD is part of the DART network of organizations, one of the largest networks of faith-based community organizations in the country.
We're hiring a full-time community organizer who will build relationships with faith leaders and community members from diverse backgrounds, train and develop their organizing skills, and deepen their participation in the work of the organization.
During your first five months, you will receive intensive on-the-job training through the DART Organizers Institute. You will learn basic organizing principles and develop key organizing skills including: finding and developing leaders, issue research and strategy, power analysis, and one-to-one meetings. Ongoing professional development will continue through individualized coaching and mentoring, as well as local, regional, and national staff trainings and retreats.

By January 14, you'll also need a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, access to a car, and proof of US citizenship, permanent residency, or deferred action for childhood arrivals.
Starting salary is $38,000 annually plus health benefits, with regular cost of living increases and performance based raises. For candidates relocating more than 50 miles, $250 is paid to help cover relocation costs. Employer retirement contributions begin after one year of employment.
