Sacred Valley Health is seeking an adventurous, thoughtful candidate to join our team as a Program Assistant. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English, an interest in global health, the desire to collaborate with an intercultural team in Peru, and knowledge of social media platforms. 

About Sacred Valley Health:

Sacred Valley Health (SVH) is a community-based, public health non-profit that partners with rural, indigenous communities in the Andes of Peru. Our core purpose is to improve the health and well-being of these underserved, marginalized communities through a community health worker (CHW) program that empowers local women with education, resources, professional development, and economic opportunities. Our programming is centered around Community Partnered Participatory Approaches, working with remote communities and local people to increase access to health knowledge and health care. 


About the Position:

This is an entry level position designed to highlight existing skills while providing a unique international setting to grow and develop professionally. The Program Assistant is a key player in the SVH programming team. They support operations by providing technical and logistical assistance to SVH’s Community Health Worker Program in addition to managing social media platforms to build and maintain external connections. They are responsible for providing day-to-day support to the local programming team, assisting the Monitoring and Evaluation Director with monitoring and evaluation activities, and supporting the Director of Experiential Education in implementing programs for visiting groups. 

The Program Assistant works closely with local staff to design and implement culturally appropriate education activities for both CHWs and international visitors. This process includes blending of biomedical information with the realities of the partnering communities. SVH’s training team is diverse in life experiences, age, and formal education levels. Communicating in such a team setting requires strong interpersonal skills and patience. Facilitating work with the team in Spanish is a daily task of this position, and to be successful in this role, you should be passionate about participatory approaches, possess strong listening skills, and cultivate a deep sense of curiosity.

Responsabilities:

Support SVH Programming (60%)

  • Work with curriculum team to develop interactive CHW training activities and agendas
  • Provide technical support to the training staff and offer opportunities for local staff to develop and practice basic computer skills
  • Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Director in the creation of evaluation materials and activities
  • Work with training team to ensure lesson plans and activities for CHW trainings align with M&E goals and objectives identified for each program
  • Assist with data collection across programs

Social Media (25%)

  • Create a social media plan to 1) clearly and creatively communicate SVH’s mission and vision to an external audience, and 2) promote fundraising campaigns
  • Manage SVH social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Collect, organize, and catalog photos in an existing database 

Visiting Group Program (15%)

  • Support the Director of Experiential Education in planning and implementing experiential learning activities for visiting groups and individuals

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Professional fluency in written and spoken Spanish language
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English language
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop
  • Previous experience as a Training Facilitator, Program Coordinator or similar role
  • Degree in Education, Organizational Psychology, Public Health, Communication, or other relevant field
