Responsibilities:

·     Leads media relations efforts for the institution, exhibitions, house museums, and related partnerships and programs

·     Manages crisis communications, drafting institutional statements in consultation with Museum leadership and relevant parties

·     Direct communication with museum leadership, curators, and museum department heads on press initiatives

·     Serves as institutional spokesperson in the absence of the department head

·     Manages incoming media requests and serves as press liaison for all on-site media interviews, photography shoots, and broadcast crews for related coverage  

·     Build and maintain relationships with international, national, regional, and local media in the print and digital space

·     Manages press planning and materials for exhibitions and institutional projects

·     Researches, writes, circulates for approval related press materials

·     Tracks and reports on impressions and engagement of media coverage secured for major exhibitions and institutional initiatives.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

·     Candidate should be a self-starter and critical thinker, who is able to manage multiple projects at a time under tight deadlines

·     Candidate possesses a proven track record of consistent media coverage and a rolodex of media contacts across local and regional media (national media contacts are a plus)

·     Candidate can collaborate across verticals of the marketing and communications department, as well as members of other institutional departments

·     Candidate possesses strong writing, communications, and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of professionalism, integrity and sound judgement


Education and Experience:

·     College degree (preferably in English, Journalism, Communications, Art History)

·     5-7 years experience in media relations
