Description

The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is an independent, international, nonprofit organization devoted to the advancement of interdisciplinary research in the social sciences through a wide variety of workshops and conferences, fellowships and grants, summer training institutes, scholarly exchanges, research, and publications. For more information, please visit our website: www.ssrc.org.

The SSRC ADVANCE Promoting Social Science Peer Review Free of Bias project aims to have a structural impact on the social science disciplines. In collaboration with six disciplinary societies in the social sciences, the SSRC will disseminate and instill fundamental awareness of bias in academic decision-making processes. The proposed work will transform how our organizations see their role in supporting the pathways of academics’ lives and raise consciousness of how bias impacts our evaluation and selection of fellows, awardees, and committee members, as well as how bias enters our decision-making structures. This project will endeavor to reduce inequities within our own and other award-granting and partner institutions, and may result in a useful model for organizations facing similar challenges.

The SSRC ADVANCE team is seeking a Program Assistant to assist in program administrative duties. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be an integral member of a small, dynamic team, and gain practical administrative experience.
