The People’s District Attorney Coalition represents professionals, impacted people, and all New Orleanians who seek a fairer and more equitable justice system. Our work began in October 2019, a full 14 months before the 2020 election for District Attorney because we knew we needed to invest the time and effort into providing a clear and resolute roadmap to reform the District Attorney’s office. Our current work is focused on accountability.

We are seeking a part-time coalition support staff for a six month period, the option of renewal. 

Responsibilities include:

Providing Support to the Steering Committee:

  • Scheduling and creating agenda for steering meetings 
  • Note taking and disseminating action items
  • Regular updates and communication regarding progress on deliverables
  • Identifying problems and substantial items for discussion

Providing Support to the Whole Coalition:

  • Creating meeting invites and providing facilitation
  • Proposing Agenda and circulate to steering and then whole coalition 
  • Directing forum question gathering, identifying experts, scheduling meetings, soliciting feedback  
  • Communication with the General Coalition and answering questions including keeping member database up to date.
  • Helping coordinate future forums and larger public gatherings as needed
  • Bringing food and drink and general coordination of Coalition meetings when we begin to meet in person again
  • Doing outreach to attract new members as needed

Administrative support: 

  • Some limited graphic design
  • Maintenance of files 
  • Maintenance of social media accounts

Required Qualifications

  • Driver’s license and ability & willingness to travel
  • Demonstrated Commitment to Racial Justice
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High level of proficiency with Social media, powerpoint, google docs, and virtual meeting technology 
  • Excellent written and oral expression
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with teams
  • Commitment to working with diverse groups of people and marginalized communities
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs

Desirable qualifications, but not essential

  • Experience in dealing with issues of race and poverty
  • Experience with file organization and general administrative duties
  • Experience working with coalitions

Compensation

$18/hour for 8-10 hours a week.
