Senior Accountant and Tax Specialist

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant and Tax Specialist will be assisting in the reconciliation of investment accounts and the resulting excise, foreign and other tax account balances. This includes working with external tax counsel and the CFO on the formulation of strategies to comply with an ever increasingly complicated investment and tax compliance environment. The position is on a Director track, depending on experience.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

 

  • Complete the compilation of supporting schedules for completion of the IRS Form 990PF, New York CHAR500 and other tax schedules as required.
  • Support the Managing Director of Finance in the production and communication of all reports, including monthly financial statements and audits.
  • Represent the Foundation with outside professionals and organizations including tax advisors and professional groups.
  • Assist the Investment office as needed and analyze potential taxation impacts.


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. The ideal candidate will have or is in the process of having a Master’s degree in Accounting or a JD degree with a focus on taxation or similar experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience with taxation or similar regulatory reporting. Preference for some experience with private foundation taxation and investments.
  • General understanding of accounting systems such as Netsuite accounting and Concur Travel and expense systems.
  • An ever-learning and curious perspective.
  • The willingness to be flexible and work within a fairly new organization.

Physical Requirements


MCHF will provide any reasonable accommodation(s) required to perform the essential duties of this role, including working under the following conditions and requirements:

  • Working in a high-rise office environment.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as well as travel when job duties demand.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation (MCHF) was formed in 2018, by the sale of the Legacy Fidelis New York Medicaid Health Plan. MCHF is organized as a New York not-for-profit corporation and as a 501(c)(3) private foundation under the Internal Revenue Code.

Salary

$65,000 - $140,000Salary commensurate with skills and experience.
