Position Title: Trauma Therapy Supervisor (full-time, exempt)

Salary Range: $49,000 - $54,000, commensurate with experience


Resilience is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Resilience provides public education and institutional advocacy in order to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault. Established in 1974, Resilience now serves more than 2000 survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones annually through our main office in downtown Chicago and our community‐based offices in Austin, Ravenswood, and on the Stroger Hospital campus.


The Trauma Therapy Supervisor will be responsible for supervising select members of the Therapy Team which may include trauma therapists, art therapists, dance movement therapists, and therapy interns. The Trauma Therapy Supervisor is also responsible for providing individual, couples, and family therapy as well as facilitating general and specialized support groups for adult and adolescent sexual assault victims/survivors and their significant others at the Central Office, located in downtown Chicago, and occasionally off-site. This is a full-time, exempt position.


Due to the current pandemic conditions, the Trauma Therapy Supervisor will temporarily work from home until such time that conditions allow for a return to our on-site offices. All of our trauma therapy clients are receiving telehealth services.


·       Provide individual, couples and family therapy, and support groups for adolescent and adult victims/survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones.

·       Provide weekly clinical supervision for select therapy staff and interns.

·    Maintain a caseload of therapy clients appropriate to the level of employment and program needs.

·       Assess/screen individuals for group services to determine appropriate level of intervention.

·       Promptly respond to requests for therapy services and maintain intake and referral records.

·       Support the Training & Outreach Coordinator in offering professional trainings for a variety of audiences through the Resilience Training Institute.

·       Participate in regular supervision, consultation, program, and staff meetings.

·       Participate in meetings/trainings for local and statewide sexual assault coalitions, institutional partners and other agencies as assigned.  

·       Participate on internal and external committees or activism, that address issues of responding to sexual violence, trauma-informed care, racial equity, reproductive justice, disability inclusion, economic justice or LGBTQ+ issues.

·       Develop and maintain a network of therapy community members and service providers within and outside of trauma therapies.

·       Develop and implement trauma therapy programming such as trainings, events, workshops, and groups.

·       Identify and participate in community events, forums, and meetings as necessary to maintain the agency’s awareness of community issues impacting survivors, as well as the efficacy of trauma therapy for survivors.

·       Collaborate with leadership, staff and interns from the Education & Training, Advocacy, and Trauma Therapy programs in order to enhance the effectiveness of the agency’s services.

·       Actively participate in the agency’s Program Leadership Team meetings.

·       Maintain accurate and complete records of all services delivered including evaluation of trauma therapy services. Adhere to agency and departmental documentation submission requirements.

·       Provide therapy services at various locations, virtually and off-site, but primarily at the Central Office.

·       Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology required

·       Strong analysis of social justice framework including racial equity, reproductive justice, disability inclusion, economic justice and LGBTQ+ issues required.

·       LCPC Licensure required; ATR or DMT preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience providing counseling services required, including support groups and family counseling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent counseling and client assessment skills
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • Previous experience facilitating presentations on sexual violence; excellent presentation skills
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem solving a must
  • Comfort with giving and receiving honest, constructive feedback
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as with a team
  • Previous experience working on women’s issues, addressing sexual violence/gender-based violence, and working with diverse populations including LGBTQ communities and communities of color strongly preferred
  • Completion of a minimum of 40-hours of sexual assault training within 60 days of hire is required; prior completion of a minimum of 40-hour sexual assault training conforming to the standards set by the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to work some evening hours is required
